SAB Innovation Champions

Day 2 Guide

Champions turn possibility into progress.

Welcome back. Today you move from understanding the challenge to creating real ideas. You will use AI to research, generate options, strengthen your thinking, then share your best idea and take it further. Work through this guide step by step.

Today's focus

What you will do today

Four things. Keep them in view as you work. Everything in this guide supports these moves.

Build ideas

Research real examples and use AI to turn them into clear, useful banking ideas for SAB.

Share into the Ideas Hub

Submit your own idea as an individual so it is captured and seen by the programme team.

Level up your idea

Use the Xelerate / Accelerate platform to develop your idea into a stronger concept.

Follow the guide

Move through the seven steps in order. Tick each one off as you go.

Your Day 2 path

Work through each step in order. The prompts you need are in the AI prompts section, and repeated where they help.

1

Understand the challenge

Get clear on what we are really trying to solve.

The challenge for SAB is:

How might AI enable SAB to reinvent banking through new products, services and business models?

In plain words: how can SAB use AI to create better banking experiences, new financial services, and new ways to create value for customers in Saudi Arabia?

AI

Tools that analyse, predict, generate, personalise or automate work.

Reinvent banking

Think beyond small fixes. Imagine better ways to serve customers.

New products & services

Things customers can use, open, buy or benefit from.

New business models

New ways SAB earns, partners or joins a wider ecosystem.

Do this now

Do not start with the technology. Start with the customer. Write down one banking moment that feels slow, confusing or unfair for a customer in Saudi Arabia today.

2

Run lightning demo research

Collect real examples that make you think differently.

A lightning demo is a short, real example that sparks an idea. It can come from a bank, a fintech, a retailer, a super app, a telecoms company, a government service like Absher or Tawakkalna, or a startup. You are not copying it. You are asking one question: what can we learn from this?

How to do it

  1. Keep the SAB challenge in front of you.
  2. Search beyond banking as well as inside it.
  3. Look for examples that change the customer experience, create a new service, or use data in a smarter way.
  4. Capture each one simply: what it does, why it matters, what SAB could borrow.
  5. Pick the examples that create the most useful discussion.
AI in banking

Personalisation, fraud detection, assistants, credit scoring, wealth advice.

Fintech & digital banks

Faster onboarding, smarter payments, budgeting and saving tools.

Retail & e-commerce

Recommendations, loyalty, smooth journeys, personalised offers.

Super apps & telecoms

Wallets, bundled lifestyle services, single sign-on ecosystems.

Government services

Digital identity, simple forms, trusted data platforms.

Startups

New tools and behaviours that solve old problems in fresh ways.

Do this now

Use Prompt 1 below to run a lightning demo scan. Aim for 15 examples. Then ask of each one: what is the useful principle behind this? The principle matters more than the example.

1 Lightning demo research
You are an innovation researcher and workshop facilitator.

My challenge is:
"How might AI enable SAB to reinvent banking through new products, services and business models?"

Run a lightning demo scan. Find 15 inspiring examples from banking, fintech, AI, retail, telecoms, government services, super apps or startups. Include examples relevant to Saudi Arabia and the GCC where possible.

For each example, give me:
- Name of the example
- Company or sector
- What it does
- Why it could inspire SAB
- What SAB could copy or adapt
- A simple 30-day experiment

Keep the language simple, practical and workshop-ready.
3

Generate AI-powered ideas

Turn inspiration into a wide set of options.

Now move from examples to ideas. A good idea does not need to be perfect. It needs to be clear enough to discuss, improve and test. Aim for quantity first. You will narrow down later.

Five areas to generate ideas

New AI-powered products

New tools, features or financial products customers can use.

Better customer service

Smoother journeys, faster support, more personal advice.

New business models

New ways to create value, earn revenue or enter new markets.

Smarter operations

Better internal processes, faster decisions, stronger risk control.

Partnerships & ecosystem

Working with others to create wider value for customers.

Do this now

Use Prompt 2 to generate 30 ideas across these five areas. Do not judge them yet. Just get them out.

2 Generate 30 ideas
You are an innovation coach helping an SAB Innovation Champion create strong ideas.

Our challenge is:
"How might AI enable SAB to reinvent banking through new products, services and business models?"

Generate 30 practical ideas that could inspire new thinking for SAB. Keep them high level, clear and easy to understand.

Group the ideas under these headings:
1. New AI-powered products
2. Better customer service
3. New business models
4. Smarter operations
5. Partnerships and ecosystem ideas

For each heading, give 6 ideas. Write each idea as:
- A short idea title
- A simple one or two sentence explanation

Make the ideas bold enough to inspire, but realistic for a bank in Saudi Arabia to explore. Use simple language.
4

Select and strengthen your best ideas

Find the strongest idea and make it sharper.

Do not debate every idea. Look for patterns, then choose a small number to develop. Score them simply.

TestWeakerStronger
Customer valueNice to haveSolves a real customer need
Business valueLittle impact for SABClear value for SAB
DifferenceSimilar to what existsFresh or distinctive
TestabilityHard to testCan be tested in 30 days
Fit for SABWeak fitStrong fit with Saudi banking

Strengthen your chosen idea

  • Make it specific. Who exactly is it for?
  • Make it useful. What problem does it solve?
  • Make it testable. What could you learn in 30 days?
  • Make it strategic. Why would it matter to SAB?
  • Make it safe. What risks need early thought, including data and trust?
Do this now

Pick your single best idea. Then use Prompt 3 to improve it and Prompt 4 to test its assumptions.

3 Improve an idea
Act as an innovation coach for a Saudi bank.

Here is my idea:
[Paste your idea]

Make it stronger. Give me:
1. A sharper one-line description
2. The exact customer it serves
3. The core problem it solves
4. Why it matters to SAB commercially
5. What makes it different from what exists today
6. The main risks, including data, trust and regulation
7. Three ways to make it more specific and testable

Keep the language clear and practical. Do not invent facts about SAB. If something needs checking, say so.
4 Test your assumptions
List the assumptions behind this idea.

Idea:
[Paste your idea]

For each assumption, give me:
1. The assumption
2. Why it matters
3. How risky it is if it turns out to be wrong
4. A simple test we could run in 7 to 30 days
5. What evidence would prove or disprove it

Sort the assumptions into desirability (do customers want it), viability (can it make money) and feasibility (can SAB build it).
5

Share your idea into the Ideas Hub

Submit your idea as an individual.

Every champion submits their own idea. This makes sure your thinking is captured and seen by the programme team. Keep your submission short and clear.

What a good submission includes

  • A clear idea title.
  • The customer and the problem in one or two sentences.
  • How AI helps, and what makes it different.
  • The value to SAB.
  • A simple first test you would run in 30 days.
Do this now

Use Prompt 5 to shape a clean submission, then enter your idea into the Ideas Hub.

Reminder
Your facilitator will share the Ideas Hub link and login details on the day. Submit as an individual, even if you worked in a team.
5 Prepare a better submission
Help me write a clear submission for an innovation Ideas Hub at a Saudi bank.

My rough idea:
[Paste your idea]

Write it as a short submission with these fields:
1. Idea title (max 8 words)
2. The customer and their problem (1 to 2 sentences)
3. The idea and how AI makes it work (2 to 3 sentences)
4. Why it matters to SAB (1 to 2 sentences)
5. First 30-day test (1 to 2 sentences)

Keep it under 150 words total. Plain, confident language. No hype. Do not invent facts about SAB.
6

Level up your idea on Xelerate / Accelerate

Develop your idea into a stronger concept.

Once your idea is in the Ideas Hub, take it further on the Xelerate / Accelerate platform. This is where a simple idea grows into a developed concept with more detail, structure and evidence.

What to do on the platform

  • Add more detail to your idea using the platform prompts.
  • Show the customer problem and the value clearly.
  • Describe your first experiment and what success looks like.
  • Note the risks and what you would check first.
Do this now

Open the platform, find your idea, and complete each section. Reuse the answers you created with Prompts 3 and 4.

Reminder
Your facilitator will share the Xelerate / Accelerate access link and a short walkthrough during the session.
7

Prepare for next steps

Leave the day ready to keep going.

Finish the day with a clear idea, a submission, and a plan. Innovation continues after the workshop.

  • Confirm your idea is submitted in the Ideas Hub.
  • Confirm it is developed on the Xelerate / Accelerate platform.
  • Note the one experiment you would run first.
  • Note who you would need to involve at SAB to take it forward.
Do this now

Write one sentence: "My next step after today is ____." Keep it small enough to act on this week.
